Journal Entry Engage with issues of global importance Oct 1, 2021

Some connections that we have been able to get from areas outside of Guanacaste are with Kaia Charlie's cousin that is from Minnesota. We have been able to have this amazing opportunity to work with her and see if we are able to get donations from Minnesota to Brsasilitot to help the families with higher products which are extremely crucial from their health due to the pandemic. We are currently still coordinating this idea and hopefully, if it is possible we will have the opportunity to go around the town and give the donations out with her, so she can experience a different culture and get to know the town better. My project is important to the world because we are dealing with one of the biggest issues that the pandemic made worst which is poverty. In the world, many people suffer from poverty because of low income. Due to this pandemic, it increased more because the population growth continued and there was low economic growth in our world. The low economic growth was when we were forced to go on lockdown. This issue of poverty was already part of the small town of Brasilito but the pandemic made it more difficult for the community members because many of them lost their jobs had no other opportunities to find another. In Brasilito many community members are not economically stable and have difficulties trying to sustain their families but they are not conscious of the number of kids they have so they continue to have kids even though they can maintain the ones that they already have. This is why my project is important because it tries to help a community that suffers from poverty during these pandemic times.
