Journal Entry July 2nd

  1. What is the meaning of CAS to you? Why is it something that is required by the IB and the MEP? Why did you choose to do your project? What resources are available to help you succeed?

To me CAS means to make a difference in the community using our creativity to bring new ideas or solutions to the community, our activity to keep ourselves always productive and motivated and helping by providing service to our community.

  1. How has CAS changed because of COVID? Or has it? Have the community’s needs changed? If so, how? If not, explain.

Normally CAS is a class that allows us to do projects outside of school and lets us socialize with the community. Due to COVID, there are now limits that stop us from having a direct social interaction with the people in our community. This takes away the options to help elders or to help people with high risks of getting COVID.

  1. Evaluate the project that you are doing. Is there a way to start the project over the summer, at least lay the groundwork? If not, why? If so, how and what will you do?

I think this project deserves a ¾. My expectation is that the community will benefit from the bus stop a lot, but, I feel like there are other more “effective” ways I can help my community, but that doesnt mean I don’t like my project, I still think it will help a lot of people from the community. For this summer, I think I could start brainstorming my plans for this project, and maybe find people who could help me get some more ideas or tricks on how to get started.
