Katherine- Journal Entry HR Week 3 May 14, 2020

During this third week of the project I have continued developing my knowledge. This week I learned the way in which feedback needs to be given to a person to maintain a professional environment.  I learned this through the reading of two different articles that talked about formative and summative appraisal. Here it was explained how the process in which we give feedback has the same importance as the feedback itself. We need to be able to collect feedback from different people that have already worked with your employee. Then you need to give this feedback to the employee before having a meeting with him, to let him process the information and give him time to reflect. We need to understand that not everyone reacts the same way when receiving feedback and this is why we need to give him time to calm down and have a decent talk after.

In the same way feedback is really important for the personal development of a person. I like to receive feedback because in this way I’m able to see what I need to work on, and what things I’m doing well in my Job. This week I talked with the teachers of the second grader student and I gave some feedback of what things she needs to concentrate on to develop her language. Talking with them was effective since I was able to give and receive feedback. Because of this conversation the teachers decided to apply a new method in the learning of the student.

The new method I´m going to implement in my classes it’s based on “explode the code”. This is based on working with different online books that have sounds, drawings and activities of writing and reading that will help with the development of the english from the student. We will try these activities to see if they can help the student. As well after using this method I need to give feedback on the observations I´m seen in the learning of the student. Through this feedback we will be able to know if the books are working or not.

On the other hand, during this week I was able to reflect in what things I can do to bring motivation to my class. Receiving content and doing activities during 1 hour for a kid of 8 years old is hard. This is why I thought of different actions I could do to make it easier for her. I decided to give her 5 minutes at the half of the class to let her brain process the information, and as well be able to go to the bathroom and rest for a moment. In the same way I would like the student to give feedback to me to be able to know what I need to change to improve her learning.
