On Saturday, July 2, 2022, I assisted in a lifesaving course from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. During this course, we learned all the basics of lifesaving. We got an intro to lifesaving which included the 5 rights of lifesaving, communication 1st aid, transportation, and anatomy & physiology. We learned about assessment skills which include administration, specific treatment, secondary assessment, primary assessment, and scene personal safety, which are used to evaluate the situation before taking action and what to do once you evaluate the situation. We were also taught about primary emergencies such as cardiovascular diseases, strokes, severe bleeding, and management of shock, And secondary emergencies such as Diabetes, loss of consciousness, and wounds. We also worked with partners to practice doing CPR on adults, kids, and babies using manikins, as well as practicing how to react in real-life scenarios. Having this lifesaving certificate will be very useful for my CAS project since I will be working with people inside the pool most of the time and it's very important for me to know how to save someone if they are drowning or if they suffered from any accidents. In general, it is very important to know what to do in case of an emergency where no one knows how to help a person in need.
