Mid project update

How do you feel about that timeline?

I feel really good about our timeline. When Ava Alexa and I first started this year’s projects we set up a clear timeline for when we wanted to hold rehearsals and have the classes. The only thing that we had planned that we wanted to do is initiate the stage project and we haven’t gotten to that yet. It has been super challenging for all of us because we do have a lot going on in our lives right now with studying for school, the SAT, and preparing for the upcoming competitions. And we have been working super hard on the first two projects that we planned so the last project has been put on hold for the moment until we can all find an appropriate time to start it where we are confident we can put enough effort into the project. Overall though I think our timeline is clear to us, our mentor, and the people who we are working with. It was great of us to plan everything out ahead to avoid any complications.

What have you done in the past couple of weeks?

We have been working with the kids at Cepia and teaching them classes and we have also initiated our solos with the juniors. The other big project that we got done was completing our video that explains our CAS project. Since we are working with the kids on our own time and having the classes and rehearsals just between us and them the community around us may not know what we are doing. The video allows us to share our project with our community and with the world; It helps us complete our mission of promoting arts in our community.

And what are your next steps in your project?

The next steps are to finish the classes with Cepia and in the last class teach them a dance for them to perform at Cepia the next day. By giving them the chance to perform we are sharing what they have learned with their families and community and supporting performing art in the part of our community that is less fortunate and does not have the resources to take dance classes or any art form. For the solo project with the juniors at our solo the next steps are to continue holding rehearsals with them to finish teaching them their solos and perfecting the solos so they are competition ready.
