MY 12TH GRADE SUMMER ACTIVITY

As most of you may know I generally hate exercise and not much has really changed but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t do any this break. With lots of traveling came lots of walking and with lots of walking sometimes meant that I wanted a break from walking which meant that I began to bike. If you know anything about me you would know that I never bike but this summer has changed me. From biking through Cambridge to Montreal I had a blast.

Then comes the individual highlight activities. First off I went punting, a unique Cambridge experience. The definition of punting is “a flat-bottomed boat with a square-cut bow, designed for use in small rivers or other shallow water. Punting refers to boating in a punt. The punter generally propels the punt by pushing against the river bed with a pole.” (Wikipedia) Believe it or not this was one of the most strenuous activities ever, the next day our arms, legs, and backs were sore and it was even hard for us to walk. The classic Cambridge punting tour comes with a guide but we decided to opt out of that option and do it ourselves. After punting for 30 minutes I felt dead, it was a whole body intense workout which required so much balance. Overall I did enjoy punting thought and rate it a 10/10. If you are ever in Cambridge remember to give it a try!

My last sport was fishing. I went to a cabin in the woods for two weeks without wifi or a computer because mine broke and eventually I ended up without a phone because it fell into the lake on one of our fishing trips. I have never really enjoyed fishing before this trip but for some reason when I went with my brothers and saw how much fun they were having I decided to give it a try myself and believe it or not I did somehow enjoy it. We were catching fish after fish and it was so entertaining every time we felt a tug on our rods and were successfully able to pull out a fish. We went to visit Sandbanks Provincial Park where we caught lots of Walleye. Overall fishing was a really enjoyable experience and I had a great time. Although I never tasted the fish that we were catching I heard it was delicious and overall rate it a 10/10 too.

This vacation was a great motivation for me to see the importance of activity in relation to our health. It made me see how important it can be and how I really do need to make a change in my life to make exercise a main focus.
