New Idea for Motivated Movement project

First third of break accomplishments:

For the first period of the break I’ve started to expand my idea for my project. Motivational speakers are the main priority but I also want to bring in people who can give students from 9th -12th and possibly younger grades, lectures about important life lessons that will help them through life. I wouldn’t only be motivating these kids through the speakers, but also teach them about things to expect in their adulthood and attempt to guide them in the right direction.

One particular idea that I thought of was discussing drugs and how damaging they can be to yourself, family, and friends. So for this I would reach out to people who have gone through drug addiction and would be open to discussing it with students and how it can destroy relationships with family and even aspiring dreams for the future.

This idea connects to a project I did in English class called “Individual Oral” commentary, where a student choses a global issue and two texts that show the issue. I did mine on drug addiction and how it affects families and can tare them apart. So these two projects would actually complement each other great.

Knowing that students in high school can be more prone to trying drugs or being involved in an atmosphere with drugs, showing how this can lead to addiction and the risk of it ruining your life would teach the kids the dangers of them. I would hope this talk connects with the students on an emotional level so it shows them how it can be damaging to families.

Next steps:

I’m going to create social media pages like a Facebook account so that I can maybe reach out to people who would be interested in sharing how drugs affected their life and teaching these students the dangers behind them.
