November 1, 2020 – Jimena CAS Journal Entry

A few days ago I was reflecting on my IB experience, and high school overall and how I’m almost close to graduating. Of course, when thinking of this I was imagining my CAS projects and how far I’ve come. It made me think of how almost a year ago I was talking to Julie about taking over the yearbook and asking Melanie and Ashley for help. This made me think of what I would change from the yearbook last year to this year, and how could I facilitate the process for the younger generations, because to be honest, the yearbook process was kind of a mess in some parts. Therefore, I decided to make a timeline/checklist for the yearbook.

When I started the yearbook, I wish I had every document in one place as well as a guideline for the things that Julie, the team, and I had to get done before we took over the next step. That’s why I decided to do a yearbook guideline. I’ve also noticed that upcoming generations are less and less motivated with the yearbook so I feel that with a yearbook checklist with all steps, documents, and procedures, they might be willing to take over the yearbook since it’s an easier process with fewer complications.

Additionally, making this checklist has made me reflect and be proud of both Julie and me on the amount of work we put into the yearbook last year and how all of that hard work paid off in the end. At the moment, regarding the yearbook, Julie and I are moving forward with our checklist and contacting Pictavo to let us open another Pictavo account and filling out some forms. We also want to inspire the La Paz community by joining the yearbook since it’s a great opportunity with great experience but it all helps with college applications! (So far we have 5 people recruited from 10th grade).
