The idea of bringing computers down for a school ended taking longer than expected, specifically because people I’ve contacted haven’t written back or communicated. The idea of creating a separate room for students has also been slowly progressing since the director of the school hasn’t communicated back to me, which forced me to think of another idea, it is getting motivational speakers to come to a few different schools here in Guanacaste and share their story to the kids. As we can see with the previous project ideas, they’ve all involved a positive change for schools which has been my main focus through all of CAS.
By the end of the school year, I want kids to have felt moved by the stories of these motivational speakers, the speakers themselves will have gone to a few schools in the area and shared how they’ve overcome their struggles. Them sharing their stories will truly get to at least a few of the kids at each school and hopefully open their eyes to how everyone can overcome anything they want as long as they have the perseverance and initiative to keep moving forward. Knowing that a lot of the kids that go to these schools have a least one struggle going on in their life since they aren’t in the best financial situations. This could be motivating for the kids to do something bigger with their life and want to be someone more. This wouldn’t only motivate the other kids but it can even open my eyes to more ideas and possibly expand.
I want to have made a big impact on the lives of these kids and also provide a free house for the motivational speaker through my mother’s property management business and the house my Canadian grandparents own here in Costa Rica. This would be a win-win for the speaking since not only do they get to do what they love, they also get a free house that’s walking distance from the beach.
