The 4 open-ended questions I came up with were:
1- What does it mean to give back to your community?
2- How do you become helpful person to your world?
3- What does our environment ask us for?
4- How green do you want your future to be?
For my first question, I got a lot of long and detailed responses from the teenagers I ask throughout my community. A lot of them said they give back to their community by helping others from the community and being good neighbors. It was en effective question because they gave a lot of ideas on how they can or do give back to the community.
For my second question, the responses I got where very engaging to hear because it would make them really think of how they want to become helpful. It was a good question for them because it made them think and use their creativity to think of something unique and creative.
For my third question, it was a little challenging for them to answer because they kept telling me that they didn’t know. I gave them some examples but they still couldn’t think of any. It wasn’t so effective because they didn’t feel engaged by the question.
For my four questions, I think that they enjoy it because they gave a lot of good responses and some of them told me that they like to think of their future. Some of them said that they hope that the world always exists and that they want it to be beautiful and healthy.
Did the questions create the desired response? Explain why or why not.
Some did create the desired answer, but others didn’t. I think it is because of the connection they have with the question, how engaged, and how interesting it was for them.
Did the questions give you insight into how to solve the problem that you are addressing?
It helped me learn how to effectively communicate with a teenager, also I learned how they get engaged with something. It helps me interact with some of them and get ideas on how I’m going to market them with my idea.
Did the questions give you insight into how to fill a gap in our community?
They didn’t give me many ideas when asking the questions, but when it came to having a more relaxed conversation about my plan, I began to recognize some aspects. They would also mention some aspects of how they though the community needs help they gave me some ideas that they have interest in.
Did the questions require your audience to think about the larger issue? Why or why not?
Yes, as many will in the future travel to many places full of flora and fauna they still want it to take pretty and have a nice experience. They talked about some of the knowledge they know about other places having the same issue and how they didn’t want their community to look like that.
Which question was your favorite and why?
My favorite question out of the 4 was the last question because I enjoy imagining my future and I would for it to be a super green and with a pretty environment. I also enjoy it because I get to be creative when thinking of my responses and it make s me acknowledge my current actions and if they’re going to affect how our green future is going to be.
