Quotes

The quote that resonates most with my CAS project is “People protect what they love.” by Jacques Cousteau. I chose this quote because dance is my passion and I want to work through dance to bring performance art back to the community after Covid prevented it from happening. It was important to us to work with some of the students at the dance studio and teach them what we know so they can improve as well. All of us at Elevate want to show our talent and tell a story through dance. 

After taking on some of the aspects of my CAS project the quote that I would choose is “Act as if what you do makes a difference, it does” William James. I chose this quote because especially when we were first choosing the project our biggest concern was that we weren’t completing the service part of CAS because we thought that helping put on a dance production was just creativity and activity. Then we realized we were helping more than we thought. Just because we aren’t donating to charity doesn’t mean we aren’t making a difference in the community. We have taught kids who love to dance something new to improve their skills and fuel their passion. We have had the opportunity to bring dance back to the community and share a form of art. Also the little things that we have been doing for Gaby to make the show possible is a small help but it really makes a difference. 

How do you feel about the class at this moment? 

I feel good. Me, Ava and Alexa have had a good start to our project and we have learned a lot. This is just the beginning and we can take what we are doing with this production and later make one of our own. 

Do the quotes inspire you to do things differently? Why or why not?

I don’t think that I would do anything differently because I am confident with the work that I am doing now but the quotes do inspire me to keep trying my best for the dance studio and to continue to help in any way I can.
