Reflection

1. What is the meaning of CAS to you? CAS to me is a project that involves making a change for the community in a better way. Why is it something that is required by the IB and the MEP? Its required because it makes you get out there and learn things in a way that no other project does. Why did you choose to do your project? I chose to do my project because poverty is a big problem in our community especially in times like this. What resources are available to help you succeed?

So far im working with a non-profit organization and this allows me to get a head start because they are already working in this area.

2. How has CAS changed because of COVID? CAS has changed due to the virus because we are no longer able to just get out there and help as many people as we can. We also used to be able to do big fundraisers with lots of people but now that isn’t a option. Have the communities needs changed? Community needs have changed because a lot of people that depended on jobs to keep their family well fed with a roof over their heads have lost that job. This causes there to be a lot more poverty leaving many to a unhealthy lifestyle.

3. Does it still make sense to do your project now? It does still make sense to do my project because i’m trying to help those who are in need. I believe many people just stopped helping because there is a virus but this is when these people need help the most.

4. What are the first steps? I’m going to start looking at ways to fundraise money in a safe way so that I can keep contact to a minimum. How are you going to show progress by next week? I’m going to find a place I can fundraise money such as go fund me or other websites like that.

5. How can you make the time that you are doing CAS, time that is not in front of a screen? At the moment I don’t know because I want to avoid human contact as much as I can and fundraising may need me to do that.  Is there something that you can create without much screen time? Maybe I could do some kind of money jar or something like that at my local stores in order to collect funds will little contact needed. And how do we document it?
I will document this by keeping a chart of money I collect from these jars until we use that money.
