September 7 2021 Journal entry

How are you feeling at the beginning of the project? Describe your feelings and how you are using strategies to manage them.

At the moment I am feeling good. I feel like we have finally set up the base for a project that we will actually enjoy. I am feeling a little bit overwhelmed on exactly when we are going to get the work done and if we can actually get people to participate but I am confident that we will get through it together.

Create SMART goals for your project. Explain how they are SMART and when we can review them to see if they have been met.

S: Put on a production in our community to fundraise for our studio and give the dancers there an opportunity to learn.

M: Money we earn and number of participants both dancers and guests.

A: Work with our mentors and work together to dedicate ourselves to the project.

R: During covid the arts have been greatly affected and the dancers at the studio really haven’t been able to perform. Dancing to demonstrate relevant issues.

T: May, June

Create a dance production for May 2022 that demonstrates relevant issues around the world by collaborating with elevate and our mentors. Provide Elevate dancers with the opportunity to perform while fundraising to give back to the studio by helping buy a new floor for the dance studio and supporting the competition team.

This goal is SMART because it gives a specific objective and deadline for the project. We are including creativity, activity and service in the goal to be able to reach all of our CAS objectives. Once we have been able to perform we can look back at the SMART goal and see if all of the objectives were met. We can also refer to the goal during the process so that it can help us stay on track.

What are your perceptions of the project at the moment? Does it solve a need in the community? If so, what? Are there people that are willing to help? If not, how can you find them. And what is the vision for the project at the end of the duration? How will it benefit the community?

I believe that Ava, Alexa, and I are more than capable of making an amazing production that allows the dancers to participate in something, especially the ones that are not going to competition and a production that we can share with the community. The performance will inspire art in the community and address a relevant issue or relatable topic. Our dance studio teacher Gaby is super excited to help with the project and we will work with her as our mentor to make the best production we possibly can.
