Lately, I have been up to a lot of different things that I'm excited to write about. First, with the garden, we now have dirt in all of the planters! This is a great things because it's a step in my project that has taken longer than planned, but now that it's done, we are now able to move on to other steps. Now that the planters are ready, I'll be meeting with the gardener I work with to decide what type of produce should go into each planter (we already know what we want, but the planters are of different sizes so we want to see which type of produce should go into each). Currently, we have ordered the seeds and seedlings for everything we want to grow, and they will arrive in a little bit less than two weeks. In the meanwhile, we are planning other aspects about the project that we can do. I'm currently considering working with Abriendo Mentes on this project, because they are working on making food baskets for affected families, and I could donate my produce to them. However, I'm still working on the logistics for this, and will reach out to them if I decide that it's an idea that would work out well. When the seedlings arrive, then the gardener I'm working with is going to teach me how to plant them and maintain the garden, which I'm really excited about! I will provide updates as soon as that happens.
On another note, I have recently taken on a new way to stay active during this time. My mom wants me to start training for ChirripĆ³ now in case it still happens, so we have been hiking every day. It's really cool to go down paths you've never seen before and end up in a really beautiful place. We've been hiking up this mountain near us where you can see an amazing view of the ocean, so so far I've been enjoying it.
Lastly, to explain the picture that is part of this journal entry, I wanted to talk about an activity that my mom and I did this weekend. We had a lot of extra dog toys at our house because the dog show that the kindergarten class hosts unfortunately could not happen this year. We decided to donate these dog toys to Barbara's because we knew that they would be very helpful for her. I always really love going there because you never know what animals she is going to have when you arrive. When we went on Saturday (the 26th), there were two-week-old puppies (the ones in this picture, they were so cute!), baby kittens, and even a baby skunk (it was so small it could fit in the palm of my hand)! Overall, it was a fun and fulfilling experience. :)
In relation to the online school situation, I would say that I am doing pretty well. So far, things are going well in all of my classes and I understand everything that we are learning so far, which helps. One thing I like about online school is that it allows me to prioritize tasks and work at my own pace. However, this also creates more opportunities for me to procrastinate, so I have to avoid that as much as possible. Overall, even though I would rather be at school in person (super sad I can't go on Fridays), I think I am trying to make the best of my current situation.
I just realized this was kind of a long journal entry. Thanks for reading! :)
