Stacy – Journal Entry September 11, 2019 ¨Beach Clean Up with class (Gen 2021)¨

Three of my classmates, Amanda, Cindy, and Kati, took the initiative to plant trees at Playa Penca and clean Potrero. Therefore, they reached out to the class for this activity to take place. They split the group in half: one cleaned the town while the other planted trees on the beach. I was part of the beach cleaning group. During this activity, I learned about being grateful for those who care for the planet. I was also impacted by how some people do not receive a good education to be throwing garbage and not caring about the planet. But, I've concluded that our generation is the one taking action for a better world. Likewise, I felt valuable in making change in our community. I was pleased knowing that each time we picked a piece of plastic, we were saving hundreds of marine animals who day to day die because of human ignorance. Everywhere I go, I will spread knowledge about this issue. To teach future generations how to save the marine world. Every class member was intending to show how to be risk-takers, reflective, principled, knowledgeable, balanced, thinkers, open-minded, inquirers, caring and communicators because every single one of us decided to make a change and fight for a less contaminated world.
