Stacy – Journal Entry September 24, 2020

What did you do to work on your project? 

Progress I made from last week to this one was reaching out to Tati and asking for students who were struggling academically. She gave me a name, Genesis. I´ve worked with her several times in the past. 

How did you move it forward? 

Tati send Genesis mom’s phone number in order for me to communicate with her. However, my struggle is that I don’t have a phone. I am using my mom’s phone and it is not accessible for me 24/7. With Tati, we planned that every day I was going to read a book Genesis has in english. 

How hard is it to do that during this time?

Due to corona and the fact that I’m without a phone, I can’t have an effective communication with Genesis. Also, being on a screen for 1 hour extra is tiring (apart from online classes). During the past few weeks I haven’t contacted Genesis. 

If that is touch, talk about what you are doing instead – show me your exercise routine! Show me your creativity! 

I was planning on doing just dance. However, my mom asked me to help her with the house chores. (This is what I’m doing recently) 

How are you adapting to the online school situation? What opportunities have been created for you and how are you embracing being at home instead of at school? 

I mean, we have been receiving online classes since march. By this time I have really adapted. The key is acceptance, accept this what it is and you can’t do anything to change it, unless corona stops! On the other hand, the only ¨new¨opportunity I´ve had during quarantine is my technology skills have developed to a higher level. I honestly don’t know how I’m embracing being at home instead of school. Maybe I can say helping my family is one major thing which keeps me motivated. 

What threats have come up? How are you dealing with them? What tactics are you taking to make sure that these do not bog you down and slow your progress?

When it comes to art, threats arrive. It’s really challenging making art at home, with no materials and a sense of wrong to right.  I am dealing with these threats since I chose to focus on photography since acquired materials I needed for other pieces weren’t available. Some tactics I´m using to make sure these do not bug me down and slow my progress is finding motivation. Either on netflix, social media, family, myself, etc… Overall, I can conclude this related to the IB course. Being at home, not being able to learn the correct way is challenging, but with perseverance and motivation it can be accomplished.
