Update: Summer journal entry #2 (Creativity)
Summer journal entry #2 (Creativity)
For the creative part of my summer I began to choreograph my solo. Choreographing requires a creative mind. When I am choreographing there are a lot of things that I need to consider for example is what I am creating innovative and new, something that people haven't seen before, am I including specific elements like technical aspects (turns, leeps, legs), I need to keep timing in mind, am I choreographing to the beats in the music or to the words and I also need to make sure that I am including something personal and emotional to enforce my dancing. There are many obstacles to face and mental barriers to get by as well as a lot of revising to do and this 45 second section of the dance is just the beginning. I will continue to work and collaborate with Gaby to better my solo and also better myself. This connects to the IB learner trait risk-takers because I am approaching a new challenge through dance in order to improve and grow as a dancer. I have choreographed before but never for something that had as much significance as a solo. I am challenging myself to step outside of my comfort zone and work on my choreography skills. My solo is something important to me that I will perform. It is important that I reach people through my dancing and they are also influenced by what I have choreographed. Overall choreography takes a lot of creativity and forces you to think outside of the box and move in ways that you may have never considered a beautiful thing.

Beautiful and creative. Where will you perform this solo and what is the significance?
