Summer Service

what did you do to help you community? During this time out of school I've decided to go to San Jose to visit my grandma who has been recently been diagnosed with cancer and my dad has been going for a while to help her go to her chemo sessions and now I had the free time to go I decided to go with my dad and help out mostly to show support to her since she's going through a rough time and help her out with different things in the house that she can't do since she is tired most of the time. How did you work on your areas for growth? I've always had problems with not being able to connect with my grandparents and mostly now that she's sick normally I would be backing off more because I'm kind of scared of that whole situation and I tried my best to put those fears aside to help her and my grandpa who is also ill to show them my support. Did you get better at something? A skill I learned was patience since normally I have patience but not so much and helping her out and taking her to the hospital and doing all that stuff took a lot of waiting and was a little stressful but at the end of the day we all made it. What challenges did you take on? The biggest challenge I would say is seeing her sick and not as vibrant as she usually is since my grandma has always been a strong authority in my  family because she was a single mom that raised two very energetic boys and it was hard for me to see her in a weak state.
