Vacation J.E #1 Activity

This december break has been an unforgettable experience. My family and I decided to take a trip to the Bahamas to visit a friend of ours who that we’ve known for a long time. We used to go every December break and it was always such a memorable time we spent there. Going back this break has been a nostalgic time filled with joy and wonderful memories. I decided that since we don’t go very often, we should plan a fun activity while were there, so we can further explore the bahamian culture and see what this marvelous country has to offer. The activity consisted of a boat excursion to the Spanish Wells ( An Island off the coast of Eleuthera ) and a trip to an island near spanish wells to see the swimming pigs. So we got up in the morning to take a boat to the pig beach first where we fed, played and got to see so many different types of pigs. We saw some baby pigs, some adult pigs, black, white, pink and so much more. At first I was scared that the pigs would bite me but I then realized that they just wanted to be fed. I even got to hold some baby pigs and it was so fun and cute seeing them splash through the clear water with their little noses sniffing for food. After the pig beach we took the boat to Spanish Wells, where we got to explore the island a bit and get to know this culture. Since this excursion happened on the 25th of december ( Christmas day ) many of the restaurants and shops were closed, so we found some local street food vendors who were selling some specialities from the island. This included Conch salad, Conch fritters, crawfish salad and much more. Since I am not a fan of seafood I didn’t really eat but it was still very fun to see these types of foods I had never really seen. After that we went back into the direction of Harbor Island which was the island we had been staying on. The tour guides asked if we wanted to see some turtles so we went on a little beach and saw turtles swimming around as we could similarly see in costa rica. The only difference was that the water was so clear that you could see the turtles entire body. This experience was so amazing and allowed me to connect with nature and explore things and places that aren’t very common. I was so thankful for the opportunity I got and to be apart of this culture filled with wonderful people in a beautiful country.
