Update: What is happening in my project
What is happening in my project
The last two weeks of our project have been important since we have begun planning our next steps for our CAS journey. After our first project was completed we began to brainstorm where we would take what we learned from that project and apply it to another project that would complete our main goal of inspiring dance in the community. Two Saturdays ago we met with our mentor to share our ideas and begin to plan. We came up with three different projects all related to dance. The first project is to choreograph the solos for the juniors at our dance studio. The second project is to teach classes for the kids at Cepia for 6 weekends and at the end of the classes we will give out a few scholarships for some of the kids to continue dancing at the studio. The last project is to communicate with the school and help them build a stage for the school and community. In the last week we have done a lot of planning. We communicated with Cepia and have 20 girls confirmed for the classes that will start next week. We held an audition for the juniors to see who they would receive a solo from out of the three of us. And we created a schedule for the Cepia classes and solo rehearsals. Ava and I also performed our solos at Cepia for their graduation. Next week the three of us will start the Cepia classes and Ava and I will start teaching our solos. We also plan to start writing emails to the school for the stage project in the next two weeks.
From the planning that we have done in the last couple of weeks we have learned a lot. We started the trimester not really knowing what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go with the project and with a lot of brainstorming and a meeting with our mentor we now have three different projects that we are starting the year out with. We definitely have improved our planning skills and we have demonstrated the IB learner profile of risk takers. With this project we were extremely ambitious and a lot of work for the three of us. We have never started three projects at the same time and that forced us to learn how to schedule our time well and plan ahead so that everything would run smoothly. In the future we are going to have the chance to improve our choreography and teaching skills in the next 4 months. The stage project that we plan to do is also something super different for the three of us so we are going to learn a lot from it.
