Discovering or Reminding Yourself of Your Interests
Understanding what brings you joy and what you truly appreciate is important for enriching your life. To help with this, you’ll engage in a reflective journaling activity.
Materials Needed:
Pen and paper
Timer
2 dice
Instructions:
Preparation:
Set your timer for 10 minutes. Write continuously, answering one of the prompts below. Don’t stop until the timer goes off. You can answer multiple prompts if time permits.
Using the Dice:
Roll both dice.
One die will determine which prompt to answer (e.g., if you roll a 4, answer prompt #4).
The other die will indicate which activity to do afterward.
Post-Writing Activity:
If the second die shows a number corresponding to an activity, do that activity for 1 minute to give your brain a refreshing break.
Afterward, roll both dice again and repeat as many times as you’d like.
I encourage you to answer all prompts, but do what feels right for you.
The Prompts:
What makes you forget to eat and poop? How do you feel when you’re engaged in this activity?
Name 3 things you love to do and why?
What makes you forget to use your phone? How does that activity make you feel fully present?
Who do you love to hang out with and why?
What makes your heart happy? What does that feeling like?
What’s your favorite topic to discuss or hobby? What about it excites you?
Activities:
Jumping jacks
Squats
Push-ups
Sit-ups
Spin around in a circle
Stretch
After Completing the Writing and Activities:
Reflect on your experience, then add a response to your “path” (perhaps your personal journey or goals), or create a visual representation for your profile page.
