Ever found yourself stuck when it’s time to start your homework, clean your room, or study for a big test? Well, struggling to get things going (aka task initiation) happens to everyone, and this can be a big problem for having a successful community project. However, you can work on this skill by using some of the strategies proposed below.

Practice

Pick a task from this list that you’ve been putting off starting:
- Organize your room
- Write an essay
- Study for an exam
- Apply for a job
- Create a work of art
- Complete a mid-term or long-term project for school
From the quiz results, pick a strategy you think will help you the most.
Record yourself starting the task. Show how you’re using the strategy and then reflect on how it worked.
