Beekeeping and Bee Management through a lens of respect

Current Beekeeping and Bee management narratives have a human centric focus and are based in capture, extraction and exploitation of bees.
Humans are often frightened of bees and don’t want them in their vicinity. We value bees for producing honey for human consumption and pollinating crops for human use.
The video above shows how humans chose to manage a natural bee nest in a tree located close to human tourist accommodation. The tree was cut open, the queen was removed and the nest destroyed; the goal being that the bees would abandon their home site so humans wouldn’t be disturbed by them. Tebogo asked for advice from Ujubee to develop a convivial understanding of bees and alternate options.
