AI isn’t about the code anymore— it’s about OUR code

I read Mo Gawdat’s Scary Smart several years ago and one of the things that stuck with me most was his assertion that we, as humans, are not effective at showing what matters most to us in digital spaces— which is where large language models scoop up all of the information on which AI is trained and grows. So if we want AI to develop in ways that make our lives more meaningful, connective and satisfying, the answer doesn’t totally rest with OpenAI or Anthropic’s product development— it’s equal parts us finding ways to show up online with “data” that reflects the way we love our world and want to see it work. This is one of the shaping ideas behind the development of the Wonderment platform— to be a place and way we can do that in a way that doesn’t have to be beholden to big tech companies’ corporate goals.
