In my opinion the best fruit collecting method is to harvest as many as possible before you going collecting seeds. That way you have a ton to use when your obtaining the seeds and dig rivers to expand the amount of fertile land.

The best seed collecting method is to obviously get the seeds that are just out in the open first before you got the ones you need algorithms for. This is just a more efficient way to play the game as you are collecting seeds faster.
