I think it’s mostly your call!

I think that as the steward of your collective, you are the one who determines what projects you want to include. I’m going to ask for confirmation on this from Matt and Amy, but I think that anyone who joins the IIC Collective can create a path, or a project but I think you, the steward, is the one who decides if it gets added to the Collective page, held in non-published existence or deleted. Is that correct Matt and Amy?

That’s right, and it really does depend on your intentions. If you’ll allow me to ruminate for a moment: I can imagine a situation where you’d really like to encourage total blue sky thinking and you’d want any and every idea (as long as appropriate and relevant) to pop up in the collective. In that situation, certain projects would naturally rise to the top, gaining attention and support from other collective members. I can also imagine a situation where you aren’t working in that kind of brainstorm mode, but rather you’re using your collective page as a much more focused communication channel directed at a general audience whom you’d like to inform about more “official” activities. And (being the good little zen monk I am:), how about a middle way, where you encourage a broad array of well thought-out projects, meaning not every half-baked idea gets posted, but you do still get the occasional “odd but interesting” idea. It really is up to the steward to decide–this is a public record of a collective process, so it’s not simply a report of a final outcome, but you also want it to be compelling and legible to a general audience. /end rumination :))
