Organization Tools Story Response

Organization Tool: Google Spreadsheet

This week, I found some motivation to create a Youth Mentorship Program. I’ve decided that this program will offer guidance and support to younger individuals. This guidance could include things like tutoring/help in school and advice for personal development and growth. This program will provide young people with a person they can trust to confide in and provide support. Since those involved in this program will be providing support and help to their younger peers, we need them to be responsible and upbeat. These kids will look up to the teens in this program, so a good example needs to be set. We will become role models for these kids, so everyone has to be on their best behavior and be dedicated to their role. There are so many social benefits to this program such as meeting like-minded people who are in a similar position as you are and becoming more connected with your community. Not only that, but you get to foster a beautiful connection with someone who will look up to you. I predict that these kids will need the most assistance in math, reading, and social situations, so we need people who are familiar and experienced in such fields. You have to be at least 16 to apply and you can decide, based on your assigned kids needs, how long and how often you will meet with them. If the parent requests, you are able to mentor these kids at their house. Otherwise, you’ll help them at the school! You need to first connect with their parents to arrange a tentative schedule. We, the arrangers of this program, will help with that first step but after that, it’s up to you what happens. This is counted as community service as you will not receive payment unless you inquire about it with the child’s parent and they agree, if such an arrangement is set up, we will need to be notified. Not only are there social benefits, there are academic benefits as well. These benefits could include brushing up on forgotten subjects (as the kids you will be helping can be as old as 13) and helping your pattern recognition skills. If your assigned child needs assistance in school, you can make connections to what they’re learning and compare/connect it with what you’re currently learning. Google Spreadsheets will be used to keep track of who has signed up and who you will be assigned to. Make sure you check it often as there will be reminders and a baseline schedule (that you can adjust/change as necessary). Other than the first step, you’re on your own. Have fun, be responsible, and be safe!

Looks like you have thought about many variables and stakeholders that are would be involved in the project. I like that you wrote about the purpose of the project. This is such an important part of the story with any project.
Does this connect to your project at all?

There was some overlapping with my project and this imaginary one. My project is meant to help people just as this one is. They can both involve working with people who are younger than you and fostering new connections.
