I tried to focus on my breathing and tried not to fidget because sometimes when I’m doing meditation its hard for me to sit still. It made me feel calmish but I think I would have to meditate for a while longer for it to have a bigger effect on me. I like the idea of meditation but it is kind of hard for me to execute it correctly. I don’t think it connects to my interest that much because I like being active but I feel like sometimes walking is a type of meditation and I have to walk a lot.

I totally agree with you! Meditation is hard and it is easy to get figety. I am pretty impressed that you think that meditating for longer will be helpful. Thanks for trying it and realizing that there are other ways to calm your mind. Walking sounds like it is a good outlet for you! I really like to run and that is about the only way for me to calm down or figure things out.

That makes sense Gigi! There are actually many people who swear by walking meditations, so you can definitely try that other times. Just don’t close your eyes! Haha

There isn’t a “correct” way to meditate, it’s each to their own. In lots of guided meditations, they talked about controlling your thoughts and as someone who meditates every day, but also has ADHD, I find a particular style of meditation helpful. It’s not guided, you just sit with your thoughts and let them wander, trying not to focus on a singular thought for too long. This has helped me be present in everyday life and calm my thoughts when necessary.
