Creativity- Vacation J.e #1

Over this break, I got the opportunity to visit a culture that I hadn’t gotten the chance to visit in a very long time. It allowed me to amplify my perception of culture in every way possible, it really opened my eye on the variety and diversity, that the world has to offer. For that reason, for my creativity entry, I’m going to talk about my experiences while in Morocco. The Hammam, is a traditional bathing room, introduced by the arabs and romans. It’s a method of cleansing the body and relaxing, in a steamy, hot room, generally open to the public. My mom and I decided to go to a local hammam, where we got scrubbed with an exfoliating, sandpaper glove, that is used to get rid of dead skin. It was a very relaxing experience, that I hadn’t done in a very long time. While in morocco it is a part of the experience to visit the local markets, such as the “jemaa el-fnaa” which is a marketplace in the heart of Marrakech Medina quarter. Leather goods, sandals, bags, jewelry, Rugs and much more are the markets main source of income which is a part of their traditional culture. When I went, to this market, I didn’t expect it to be so big with that many artisans, and merchandisers selling their goods. It was one of the coolest experiences because I really got the chance take a look at how big our culture really is. For my last aspect of creativity, I’m going to talk about henna. One of the days in Marrakech, I went to a local Henna shop, where they created designs on my hand with a greenish type of paste that comes from plants. In the moroccan culture henna is a very big part of their rituals and life, it’s a form of representing art, religion and festivities.
All these experiences allowed me too view and explore the different cultures of the world, it was a very memorable vacation for me.
