Journal Entry #21-luis

Creativity is defined as the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity is characterised by the ability to perceive the world in new ways, to find hidden patterns, and generate solutions.
I personally don’t consider myself a really creative person, and this is because I don’t really enjoy the typically “creative” things like writing or drawing, and I don’t tend to do very well in the most “creative” subjects like art, music, or creative writing, but creativity is not really limited to those subjects, according to the american neurologist Alice Flaherty “creativity applies to business, IT, science and math as much as it does to what we typically think of as “creative” fields, such as fiction writing, art or theatre.” During this break I decided to learn more about creativity and why it’s so important to me, even if I’m not interested in subjects where I considered that creativity was needed. I believed that creativity was only necessary in specific aspects of my life that I wasn’t interested in, but I believe that after researching about this topic I understand how important creativity is in all the aspects of our lives, it’s not something that doesn’t apply to me because I don’t take the classes that require them but it is something that applies to everyone. The most interesting aspect of creativity and the most essential for me is how creativity can be useful the process of problem solving, and how the solution that might be the most obvious or the easiest path is not always the best path to take.
