The Tower Theatre has always been my cinematic chapel. A sacred space to congregate with other counterculture cinephiles and partake in the collective experience of watching bold artistic expression on the big screen. The Tower isn’t just another movie theater. It’s a place where humans can be exposed to different perspectives, traditions and stories that can’t be found in mainstream movie houses. It is the mecca for that wild and beautiful art form that continues to capture our imaginations at 24 frames per second.
In the next few years, the Tower Theatre is embarking on a major renovation that will enhance the current space by providing increased accessibility to patrons with disabilities. As a wheelchair user, I’m thrilled to know that I can finally access the bathrooms, balcony and other hard-to-reach pockets of this historic landmark.
